Several years ago I decided to make a Christmas countdown to share with all of you. As I prayed about what I wanted it to look like, I contemplated what we as parents really want to prioritize during the Christmas season. These three things came to mind:
- Sharing the story of Jesus’ birth with our children.
- Spending special time with our families.
- Finding ways to share God’s love with others.
I was blessed to have my neighbor who is a graphic designer help me come up with graphics and a design, and we made it into a countdown game. Instead of opening a door like on a traditional advent calendar, your family will move a space on a game board each day and complete an activity. Each day your family will either read part of the Christmas story and answer questions, do a hands-on application activity, or participate in a family fun event or service project. The count down allows you to pick the days you would like to do each activity to make it conducive for your family’s schedule and help you prioritize Jesus at Christmas. It is geared for children Pre-K through elementary, but it can be adapted to any age.
Here is a video to show you how it works!
To purchase the curriculum, click on my store page. Praying God will use it to draw your family’s hearts to Him this Christmas. As an added bonus, all proceeds from my store go to providing curriculum to children in Ethiopia!
What a great idea! Thanks for sharing!
Oh this is so cool! Thanks!
My family and I enjoyed doing this a few years ago, and I look forward to doing it again. Thank you for pointing our families to Jesus!
Glad you liked it, Heather!
