I love baby showers. I enjoy getting to know the other guests, playing the fun-filled games, eating the tasty food, and watching the glowing Mom open her baby gifts in her elegant maternity dress with her cute baby bump.
Babies are such a special gift from God, whether they are the mom’s first or last, and whether they come quickly, unexpectedly, or are a long awaited hope. One of the things I enjoy most is picking out the perfect gift. I want the gift to leave a lasting impression on both mom and baby, whether practical or sentimental. Gifts that plant seeds of faith and teach little ones how special they are to God are by far some of the most precious treasures they will ever receive. Here are a few gift ideas to make an eternal impact the next time you are looking for just the right gift for a baby shower.

Lullaby Worship
There is something about lullabies that are so peaceful, and what a perfect way for babies to fall asleep to truths of God’s love and faithfulness being sung over them each night. Here are two options that are rated highly on amazon and are sure to be great baby gifts for both mom and baby.

Classic Children’s Books
Children’s books are another great keep-sake and can have such sentimental value when mom and dad read them over and over, and the truths from the book sink deep in their children’s hearts. And as they grow, there is nothing better to engrain in their little hearts than how much they are loved by God and their parents. Two books that offer this kind of message are God Gave Us You about a momma polar bear who tells her little boy polar bear the story of how he is a gift from God, and Just In Case You Ever Wonder by Max Lucado, about a dad sharing with his little girl how much he loves her and will always be there for her. This is one of my daughter’s favorites to read with her daddy!

Baby Bibles
Baby Bibles are other treasured baby gifts that help instill in little ones’ hearts the importance of God’s Word. We used the Baby’s First Bible with our little ones, and they can tote it around by it’s little handle to read whenever they please. The simple language and choices of stories and verses are perfect for babies and toddlers. I recently purchased the Lift the Flap Bible as a baby shower gift, and I love the story choices, illustrations, and 40 flaps to keep the Bible interactive for busy little hands.

Baby Lovies/Blankets
Some of my kids’ favorite treasures are their first stuffed animals that came from our baby showers. This stuffed lamb plays “Jesus Loves Me” when you push a button, helping your child learn the classic song while also teaching cause and effect. The baby blanket is both sentimental and practical, and a way to “literally” wrap the new baby in God’s truth.

Parenting Books
Sometimes the practical baby gifts are the best gifts of all when it means that mom learns how to help her baby sleep through the night while gaining wisdom for raising her growing baby. The On Becoming Wise Series is a very practical and useful series for any mom wanting insight on how to help her baby with the necessities of sleeping, eating, wake time routines, and later shaping positive behaviors at the toddler stage. Christian parenting author, Gary Ezzo, and Pediatrician, Robert Bucknam, provide great insights into child development and behavior.
