Teen to Teen: 365 Daily Devotions by Teen Guys for Teen Guys
Compiled By: Patti M Hummel
B&H Publishing Group

Best for ages 13-14

This is a unique compilation of devotionals written by Christian teen boys who share life lessons based on a scripture of the day. My pastor’s son has this devotional and feels it is relatable, because it is written by his peers. He says it’s nice to know that other kids his age are going through the same kinds of issues. Some of the topics discussed include peer pressure, dating, and substance abuse. This devotional encourages boys that only God can fix life’s problems, and He can and will work in your life if you let Him.

A Young Man After God’s Own Heart: A Teen’s Guide to a Life of Extreme Adventure
By: Jim George
Harvest House Publishers

Best for ages 13-18

This is a great devotional for teen boys to encourage them in their relationship with Jesus. The message of the book is to go on the great adventure of following God with your whole heart. Jim George teaches teen boys how to walk closely with God and live for Him in every area of life, including family, friendships, temptations, and service. The new edition has an additional section to help boys grow into men who honor the Lord. While this devotional could be done individually, it would also make a great father/son devotional to encourage a mentorship between dad and son.

A Young Man’s Guide to Making Right Choices: Your Life God’s Way

Best for ages 13-18

This is a much-needed devotional for teen boys about making good choices in life based on God’s Word, written in a relatable way to typical teen boys. Some of the topics include spending time with God, choosing the right friends, choosing words carefully, dating, peer pressure, and turning your life around. This would be a great book for teen boys who need to choose the right path amidst temptations and negative influences surrounding them.

Created for Work: Practical Insights for Young Men
By: Bob Schultz
Great Expectations Co.

Best for ages 15-17

This book, popular in the homeschool community, encourages teen boys to develop a strong work ethic. There are discussion questions at the end of each chapter, making it a good father/son devotional. My nephew enjoyed reading this book with his dad and learned a lot about having a strong work ethic. Bob Schultz discusses the importance of work from a Biblical perspective and inspires boys to be hardworking, honest, and respectful to those in authority over them. This is a much-needed book in our world today, that focuses on doing things “the easy way” and valuing entertainment and fun over hard work and ethics.
