Warrior Mamas: A Christian Parenting Guide to AI

In Protecting Kids from Evil by Taylor JohnsonLeave a Comment

This is the last article in our Warrior Mamas Parenting Guide Series (at least until the next media advancement), and we will be discussing the newest technology that impacts media, artificial intelligence, commonly known as AI.

We have been discussing how Satan, our enemy, speaks lies and brings temptation to our children through media, such as harmful books, music, video games, movies, and social media.   While AI is not a type of media, per se, it is a technology, like the internet, that influences how media is developed and shared with others.  It is also rapidly becoming a primary source of information used by teens, which can be good, but can also cause notable concerns.  Today we are going to look at ways the enemy can use AI to bring harm to our kids and distract them from their callings.  Let’s look at some benefits, harmful effects, and discuss ways to monitor and equip our kids to use AI in safe and productive ways.

We have been discussing how Satan, our enemy, can speak lies and bring temptation to our children through media, such as harmful  books, music, video games, and movies. Today we are going to look at how he can bring harm to our kids and distract them with one of the latest media platforms: social media. Because most of us parents did not grow up in the digital age with social media, this type of entertainment can be a bit more difficult for us to navigate. Let’s look at the harmful effects social media can have on teens, discuss the most common social media applications for this age group, and determine ways to monitor time and content on social media.

In Protecting Kids from Evil by Taylor JohnsonLeave a Comment

As moms striving to raise our kids to love God and follow His ways, we must be aware of the subtle (and sometimes not-so-subtle) messages being woven into the stories they watch. From distorted views of truth to the normalization of sin, the enemy is using movies to confuse our children and lead them away from a Biblical mindset. To help us navigate this, I had the opportunity to speak with former Hollywood actress and pop culture expert, Tina Griffin. Tina now dedicates her life to exposing harmful media messages and equipping families to stand firm in their faith. In this interview, Tina shares her personal journey, insights into the entertainment industry, and practical advice for parents who want to raise media-wise kids in a culture that often opposes Biblical truth.

Warrior Mamas:  A Christian Parenting Guide to Shows and Movies

In Protecting Kids from Evil by Taylor JohnsonLeave a Comment

As Warrior Mamas we have been discussing how we can protect our children from the lies of Satan, our enemy, found in media outlets such as books, music, and video games.  The enemy often uses media to speak lie, bring temptation, and distracts our kids from truly following the Lord and His ways.  Because most of us are so inundated with the culture around us, it’s far too easy to get swept away by the idea that the content is “harmless” and won’t affect our kids. That is exactly what the enemy wants us to believe, but in reality, there are so many harmful messages that we don’t notice, and they can negatively affect our children if we are not careful.

In Devotionals by Taylor Johnson2 Comments

Most Christian parents seem to know about Christ-focused movies for their kids to enjoy, such as Veggietales, Bible Man, and the Minno Kids app.  There are a plethora of entertaining, God honoring shows for preschoolers and young kids to choose from.  What I don’t hear, however, are parents talking about the latest Christian movies that are great for teens.   Many parents may assume their kids are too old for Christian movies or that their teens won’t be interested in them.  I would like to challenge that belief by sharing some amazing, God honoring movies that your teens will not only love, but that will inspire and encourage them in their faith as well.

Warrior Mamas Series Part One: Guarding Our Children from the Lies of the Enemy

In Knowing and Loving God, Reflecting His Character by Taylor JohnsonLeave a Comment

This new series God has laid on my heart, Warrior Mamas, is meant to help open our eyes to the enemy’s lies that he introduces to our children through media, peers, and culture, and to help us combat these attacks in two ways: defensively, by guarding our children from the lies the enemy hurls and offensively, by teaching our children to fight off the lies by rejecting them and claiming God’s truth.

Warrior Mamas Series Part Two: Combatting the Lies of the Enemy with God’s Truth

In Knowing and Loving God, Reflecting His Character by Taylor JohnsonLeave a Comment

I have found myself wondering lately why so many teens fall away from God by the time they leave home. Of course, this is not an easy answer, and it’s clearly multifactorial, but I believe it is an important question for us to ask ourselves as Christian parents. The verse that came to mind as I was contemplating this question was James 1:27, specifically where God says through James that we are to keep ourselves from being polluted by the world.

Warrior Mamas:  Christian Parenting Guide to Secular Books

In Protecting Kids from Evil by Taylor JohnsonLeave a Comment

We know that our enemy, Satan, uses many different avenues to speak lies to our children, and one of the ways he deceives our kids into unbiblical beliefs and temptations is through books.  Books can be a powerful influence on those who read them, especially children.  Children are not yet grounded in their convictions, so books can more easily shape their attitudes, moral convictions, and perceptions of the world.  As Warrior Mamas, we must be vigilant against the enemy’s attempts to use harmful books to lie to our children.
