Resources are powerful tools to encourage our children to grow deeper in their faith and mature in their character. I have found this to be true with my own children, and I hope that you find this to be true as well!  Here is a list of resources that I hope you will find helpful. I pray that these will be great tools to bring God’s Word and truths into your home as you create an environment of knowing, loving, and following the Lord with your children.

The following reviews are based solely on my opinion from having watched the movies with my kids over the years.

Owlegories Vol. 1 – The Sun, The Seed, The Water

This series teaches kids about God through allegories in nature by adorable owl characters who attend school. You can find Owlegories DVD’s on Amazon or as an app for your tablet or smart TV.

Read and Share DVD Bible Box Set

Best for ages 2-5

These Bible stories are perfect to go along with the Read and Share Bible and help the Bible come to life in our children’s imaginations, while staying true to scripture. My kids LOVED these movies, and their Sunday school teachers were so amazed at their Bible knowledge at such a young age! You can find Read and Share DVD’s at Christian books stores and Amazon.

VeggieTales: 25th Anniversary 10-Movie Collection

Best for ages: 2-10

One of the most popular Christian movie collections for kids continues on with newer movies that are parodies of famous stories such as Star Trek, Cinderella, and Lord of the Rings. Each story focuses on teaching Christ-like character. For example, the Lord of the Beans teaches kids to use their gifts to bless others and display a selfless heart, and The Princess and the Popstar teaches kids to be content with God’s unique plan for their life.

A Bug Collection DVD Box Set: Volume 1

This animated show is about a caterpillar and his friends staring Max Lucado and teaches kids truths from God’s word as well as godly virtues. You can purchase the DVD’s on Amazon, and you can find Hermie and Friends on Youtube, Minno Kids, and Right Now Media.

A Gods Little Princess DVD Treasury Box Set

Best for ages: 4-7

This series for preschool and young elementary aged girls is about a girl named Gigi who knows God loves her so much and created her to be a princess. Gigi prays to God every night for wisdom and provisions for her life’s problems, and she thanks God at the end of each movie for working everything out. She gives kids a great model of what it looks like to have a relationship with God and trust in Him to help you through all of life’s trials.

Melting the Master of Mean: Plus Two Additional Bibleman Adventures!
Best for ages 4-9

My kids love Bible man’s new animated videos and the messages teach kids about the real spiritual battle around us in an age-appropriate way. My kids have been encouraged to do what’s right and have memorized the scriptures that are presented in these movies. You can find Bible Man DVD’s at Christian books stores and Amazon.

The Chosen Series
Best for ages 8+

We have recently started watching season one of  The Chosen television series as a family, and have been very impressed with the quality of the show and representation of Jesus.  While the producers take the liberty of creating back-stories for the characters in the stories to show what life may have been like for them, the message and stories of how Jesus impacted them are true to God’s Word. Episode one in season one may be a bit scary or inappropriate for some kids, as it shows several realistic scenes of Mary’s demon possession before Jesus heals her, but the rest of the episodes are not scary.

Movie Apps

Minno Kids: (previously called JellyTelly): This movie app has most of the Christian movies I have reviewed. The movie selections are great for kids preschool through elementary age. The kids can watch it on a tablet or smart TV, and you pay for a monthly subscription.

Amazon Prime Video: Several of the Christian movies I have mentioned can be found on Amazon Prime if you search for them! Some of them are offered with the Dove Channel subscription through Amazon Prime as well.

Owlegories: This movie app series teaches kids about God through allegories from nature and uses adorable owl characters kids love. You can find Owlegories DVD’s on Amazon or as an app for your tablet or smart TV.

Right Now Media: This app is typically purchased by churches or Christian schools and allows its members access to movies for kids and adults as well as Bible studies and teaching. Check with your church to find out if you have access to Right Now Media for your family to enjoy!

The Chosen Series App: You can search The Chosen App, and find it free on either Google Play or the app store for
Apple.  This allows you to watch all of The Chosen shows for free!  Great for family movie night for kids 8 and up!  Side note- episode one may be a bit scary/inappropriate for some kids as it shows realistic scenes of Mary’s demon possession before Jesus heals her.
