A Mama Heart Like Jesus: Sending Our Kids Out to
Share God’s Love

In Sharing His Love by Taylor JohnsonLeave a Comment

Jesus sent the disciples out to share the good news and minister to others once they had been equipped to do so.  Likewise, once we give our kids a sense of purpose, equip them to bear good fruit, and model sharing Jesus’ love with others, it’s time to send them out.  Just like Jesus used a boy who was willing to share his lunch to feed 5,000, God can use our kids too. In fact, children have a unique position and faith that allows them to impact the world around them in significant ways.

10 Ideas to Serve Others this Christmas

In Sharing His Love by Taylor Johnson9 Comments

One of my favorite things about Christmas is the spirit of love and generosity that embraces our hearts this time of year…We tend to look for ways to bless others by serving together as a family, and by doing so we are blessings Jesus in the process.  Serving others with our kids not only demonstrates the heart of God and shares His love with His people in the process, but it is a great way to develop meaningful family traditions and foster a strong family identity.

10 Must-Read Christian Allegory Books For Kids

In Knowing and Loving God by Taylor Johnson8 Comments

Some of my favorite Christian chapter books for kids (and for myself) are allegories.  There is something special about a good allegorical story with a hidden message that not only draws the reader into the adventure, but also teaches Biblical truths in powerful ways.  Jesus used parables (similar to allegories) as one of His primary ways of teaching, and look at the impact the stories have made on so many!  I don’t think I would appreciate Jesus’ heart for “the lost” if it wasn’t for the story of The Lost Sheep, or God’s overwhelming forgiveness if it wasn’t for The Prodigal Son, or even our call to truly serve others without hearing the story of The Good Samaritan. These stories help us understand and connect on an emotional level with the heart of God.  Similarly, there are also many great chapter books written as allegories to help our children understand God and His ways.
